Google has launched Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First program targeted at African startups using artificial intelligence to tackle local challenges.
The program is a 10-week-long will offer selected Artificial Intelligence startup to gain access to Google’s AI expertise, and technical resources which include up to $350 000 in Google Cloud Credits, as well as mentorship from AI professionals, and networking opportunities.
The Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First program is open to 17 African countries including Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe highlighted.
Folarin Aiyegbusi, head of Startup Ecosystem for Africa at Google said: “Africa’s tech landscape is vibrant and ever-evolving. It’s inspiring to see African startups not only harnessing AI to address our unique challenges but also setting benchmarks for the world. ‘AI First’ is more than a program; it’s a testament to our belief in the vision of these startups, ensuring they have the support and guidance they need to realise their full potential.”
Interested startups can apply here and the deadline is 6th September.
