You know that annoying feeling when you recharge your mobile phone and the recharge is used for data auto renewal by your service provider. E dey pain!

Of course, when you recharge with a USSD code, you are asked if you want your data plan to be renewed, you can easily select no.

But what happens when you make a mistake or you buy data via your bank? There is no option to auto-renew in the later case except you dial the USSD code and immediately cancel. If not when you recharge, it would be auto renewed which you don’t want.

Here is how to cancel auto-renewal on MTN, Glo, 9mobile and Airtel.

MTN

  1. Dial *131#
  2. Choose Data Plans (Option 1)
  3. Choose Manage Data (Option 8)
  4. Choose Cancel Auto Renewal (Option 3)
  5. Select Bundle to Opt-Out Of.
  6. Done.

Glo

For Glo ensure that your data plan is already active. After making sure of this, send CANCEL to 127. Your Glo auto-renewal would be canceled. You can would be informed via a text message.

9mobile

To opt-out of auto-renew on 9mobile, simply dial *229*0# to deactivate this feature. You will be ask to select 1 for auto-renewable plan or 2 for one-off plan. Just select 2.

Alternatively, you can SMS STOP to 229 and you will receive a confirmation message from 9mobile.

Airtel

  • Android Bundles: *438*100#
  • Mega bundles: *408*100#
  • BB Bundle: Text STOP AUTO RENEW to 440
  • Daily/Weekly bundles: Text STOP to 141

Now, you can stop data auto-renewal.
