The Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative (ANPI) powered by the Jack Ma Foundation has been launched at Zone Tech Park in Lagos, Nigeria.

The launch which was organised by the Network of Incubators & Innovators in Nigeria (NINE), the West African partner for the prize was also held simultaneously in Egypt (RiseUp), South Africa ( 22 On Sloane) and Kenya (Nailab). The founder of NINE, Bankole Oloruntoba who anchored the event said that entrepreneurs from all over Nigeria (Africa), sectors and age groups can apply.

“The Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiation is open to anyone that has a product that can scale. No matter the service or product offering, you can send in your application and we strongly encourage small enterprises, female entrepreneurs and those doing work to improve local communities to apply”, he said.

Founded by the Jack Ma Foundation, the award will invest US$10 million and recognize 100 African entrepreneurs over the next 10 years. The Prize aims to support and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs who are building a more sustainable and inclusive economy for the future.

Every year, 10 finalists will be selected to compete in a final pitch competition that will be broadcast across the continent. All ten finalists will gain access to the Netpreneur community of African business leaders to leverage the community’s shared expertise, best practice and resources.
