The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started preparation for the 2023 elections. As an eligible voter, it’s time to get your Permanent Voters Card (PVC) if you don’t have, to perform your civic responsibility.
This time, INEC has digitise the process as there is now an online portal for Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). Hence, no need for you to brave long queues and spend hours just to collect your PVC.
According to INEC, to be eligible to vote, an individual must be:
- A Nigerian citizen.
- You must be eighteen (18) years old and above.
- Ordinarily resides, works in, or originates from the Local Government Area (LGA), Council, or ward covered by the Commission’s registration officers for voter registration.
- Free from any incapacity to vote under any Nigerian law; Present himself/herself to the Commission’s registration officer for registration as a voter, and Must not be subject to any incapacity to vote under any Nigerian law.
How to register
As a New Voter, you can Pre-Register online, or as a Registered Voter, you can Review your Voter Registration, Request to Update your Information or Transfer your Voter Registration to another Polling Unit.
- Visit https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/ to sign in or register
- There are two methods to register. You can simply login with Google or create a portal account to continue. If you have your login details, you can just log in.
- To finish the signup process, enter your phone number. Some of the things you can do on the portal include: New voter registration, Review, Transfers, Information Update Collect your PVC, Request New Card if lost or damaged
- Click on the option applicable to you. For the purpose of this article, it’s new voter registration. Please note that you can only pre-register online.
- Fill Pre-Registration Form on this Portal
- Choose an Appointment Date for your Biometric Capture
- Generate Application Slip for your Pre-Registration
- Visit Chosen Biometric Registration Centre to Capture your Fingerprints and Photo
- Track Registration Status Online
- Be Notified when your PVC is ready
- Pick Your PVC
