The Federal Government has announced the increment in the number of N-Power beneficiaries to one million up from 500,000.
President Muhammadu Buhari gave the directive to increase the beneficiaries to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouq.
The N-Power is an initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria aimed at lifting Nigerians out of poverty through capacity building, investment, and direct support. The programme spans agriculture, health, education, and tax.
Batch A commenced with over 200,000 young Nigerians in 2016, while the second batch (B) had about 300,000 that kicked off in August 2018.
Both batches were in June this year disengaged from the NSIP scheme, allowing for opportunities for new batches into the work-for-pay scheme.
Buhari also directed an increase in the beneficiaries of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) by 1,000,000 as well as beneficiaries of the Home-Grown School Feeding by 5,000,000.
