Ventures Platform, an Africa-focused venture capital firm, has secured a $64 million first close for its second fund, VP Pan-African Fund II, positioning the firm to scale early-stage investments and catalyse Series A rounds across the continent. The fund is targeting a final close of $75 million.

The raise attracted 70% re-commitment from returning LPs, underscoring investor confidence in Ventures Platform’s performance and strategy. Backers include Nigeria’s iDICE programme, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Standard Bank, British International Investment (BII), Proparco through the EU-backed Choose Africa initiative, AfricaGrow, MSMEDA, and European family offices such as Alder Tree Investment, alongside global investors including Michael Seibel.

Fund to Target Seed and Series A Deals Across Africa

With Fund II, Ventures Platform will continue investing in pre-seed and seed-stage startups while taking a leading role in co-leading Series A rounds. The firm will also expand into North Africa and deepen activity across Francophone markets, while strengthening its presence in Nigeria.

Focus sectors include fintech, healthtech, agritech, edtech and AI, with a strong emphasis on market-creating solutions that address non-consumption and infrastructure gaps.

Leadership and Investor Commentary

Founding Partner Kola Aina described the close as a vote of confidence in Africa’s innovation potential:

“Africa’s challenges present its greatest opportunities. With Fund II, we are backing resilient founders building market-creating innovations that solve non-consumption and unlock long-term economic value.”

Institutional investors highlighted the fund’s role in empowering digital innovation, job creation and economic transformation across the continent.

Proven Record in Backing Top African Startups

Since launching in 2016, Ventures Platform has invested in more than 90 startups, including Moniepoint, SeamlessHR, Piggyvest, LemFi, Remedial Health and OmniRetail — companies that have grown into leading African technology brands. The firm has delivered exits across four of its first six fund vintages and strong graduation rates from seed into later fundraising stages.

With this first close, Ventures Platform is positioned to scale founder support, deepen regional footprints and accelerate the next phase of Africa’s technology growth story.
