The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially opened its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) portal, making it easier than ever for Nigerians to register for their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) online.

Whether you’re a first-time voter, need to transfer your polling unit, or replace a lost card, the online process is designed to save time and reduce long queues at registration centres.

Why You Need Your Voter’s Card

Your PVC is your gateway to participating in Nigeria’s democratic process. Without it, you cannot vote during elections. The card also serves as a valid means of identification across different institutions in the country.

Step-by-Step Guide to Register for Your PVC Online

  1. Visit the INEC CVR Portal
Go to cvr.inecnigeria.org and click “Get Started”.
  2. Create an Account
Register with your name, phone number, and email. A verification link will be sent to your email—click it to activate your account.
  3. Select Your Registration Type
    • New registration (first-time voter)
    • Transfer to a new location
    • Replacement of lost or damaged PVC
    • Update of personal information
  4. Fill in the Online Form
Provide your biodata, residential address, and preferred polling unit. Upload any supporting document (e.g., NIN slip or passport photo) if available.
  5. Upload Your Photographs
You’ll need two passport-style photos: one with a neutral expression and one smiling.
  6. Book Your Biometric Capture
Choose a convenient date and time at your nearest INEC registration centre for fingerprint and face capture.
  7. Get Your Temporary Voter’s Card (TVC)
After completing biometrics, you’ll be issued a TVC as proof of registration.
  8. Collect Your PVC
Once your PVC is ready, INEC will notify you to collect it at the same centre where you did your biometrics.

Important Things to Know

  • Avoid multiple registrations: Duplicate entries may result in your record being invalidated.
  • PVC online registration began on August 18, 2025, while physical registration at centres starts on August 25, 2025.
  • INEC advises citizens to register early to avoid last-minute congestion.

With the launch of the INEC online voter registration portal, Nigerians now have a faster and more convenient way to register for their PVC. By starting your registration online, you reduce time spent at physical centres and ensure your information is accurate and secure.
