Jumia, the African ecommerce firm, has announced the appointment of Temidayo Ojo as the new CEO of Jumia Nigeria. Ojo takes over from Sunil Natraj, who previously led the Nigerian operations.

Temidayo Ojo’s appointment comes nearly five years after the exit of Juliet Anammah, Jumia Nigeria’s pioneering CEO, who initially left her role to join the company’s global executive team. Anammah now leads CG&R Strategy LLC. Ojo’s leadership marks a return to local talent at the helm, reinforcing Jumia’s commitment to deepening its roots in Nigeria.

Who is Temidayo Ojo?

Temidayo Ojo joined Jumia in 2020 and quickly rose through the ranks, serving as Head of Planning & Performance, Chief Commercial Officer of Jumia Ghana, and most recently, CEO of Jumia Ghana. Under his leadership, Jumia Ghana recorded significant commercial success and operational growth.

Ojo holds an MBA from IESE Business School in Spain and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Lagos. His deep understanding of African markets, combined with global business exposure, positions him as a strong leader to guide Jumia Nigeria into its next phase.

Commenting on the appointment, Francis Dufay, CEO of Jumia Group, said: “Temidayo brings a powerful blend of analytical thinking, strategic execution, and customer-centric leadership. His success in Ghana gives us great confidence in his ability to lead Jumia Nigeria to new heights.”

A Strategic Move for Jumia Nigeria

This leadership transition is seen as part of Jumia’s broader strategy to localise its operations, improve customer trust, and streamline supply chain efficiency in Nigeria. With internet and mobile penetration increasing, Jumia sees Nigeria as a key growth hub in its pan-African footprint.

As e-commerce competition intensifies in Africa, Jumia’s decision to place Temidayo Ojo in a top leadership role signals a renewed focus on local innovation, customer trust, and sustainable growth. Stakeholders and consumers alike will be watching closely as he takes the reins at a pivotal moment in the digital commerce landscape.
