Liquify, a Ghanaian fintech startup, has announced a $1.5 million seed funding round to expand its AI-powered digital invoice financing platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Africa.

The round was led by Future Africa, with participation from Launch Africa, 54 Collective, Digital Africa, Equitable Ventures, and several angel investors.

In addition to the equity investment, Liquify has secured a debt facility from Ghana-based impact lender Emerald Africa, boosting its liquidity position to serve more SMEs with fast, affordable financing.

Founded in 2024, Liquify offers an automated platform that provides same-day financing against unpaid invoices. The technology streamlines onboarding, KYC/AML compliance, credit scoring, and settlement processes, significantly reducing turnaround times and improving access to trade finance for African exporters and manufacturers.

Since launching its beta in late 2024, Liquify has financed more than $4 million worth of invoices, primarily serving customers in Ghana and Kenya trading with partners in Europe and North America.

“This funding is a critical step toward our mission of closing Africa’s $120 billion trade finance gap,” said Nadya Yaremenko, co-founder and CEO of Liquify. “We want to unlock working capital for Africa’s most dynamic SMEs and empower them to grow sustainably.”

According to the company, the new funding will be used to expand its engineering and product development teams, strengthen its AI-powered risk and compliance engine, and support growth into new markets across both Anglophone and Francophone Africa.

Emerald Africa, which provided the debt facility, said the partnership supports broader goals of financial inclusion and job creation by enabling Liquify to serve businesses that are often excluded from traditional financing channels.

The funding highlights continued investor confidence in Africa’s fintech sector, which is attracting capital to solve long-standing challenges in financial inclusion and business growth.
