Thunder Code, a new AI-powered software testing startup, has raised $9 million in seed funding to expand its generative AI platform that automates and scales quality assurance (QA) processes for development teams worldwide.

Investors backing the $9 million seed round include Silicon Badia, Jaango Capital, Titan Seed Fund, and angel investors like Roxanne Varza (Station F Director) and Karim Beguir (InstaDeep CEO). Interestingly, several former Expensya employees who profited from its acquisition have reinvested in Thunder Code, showing strong confidence in the founders

Founded by entrepreneurs Karim Jouini and Jihed Othmani, Thunder Code enables QA teams to convert manual test scripts into intelligent, self-healing automated tests using a suite of AI “expert agents.” These agents simulate the behaviour of various end users, such as visually impaired testers or finance staff, automating real-world testing scenarios in record time. Early adopters report up to 90% faster test cycles and dramatically improved test reliability.

“We’re building the future of QA where intelligent agents—not humans—handle the repetitive, fragile parts of testing,” said Karim Jouini, CEO and co-founder of Thunder Code. “We launched our MVP in just six weeks, and today our platform is already more mature than our last startup was in year four.”

The Thunder Code platform is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing CI/CD tools, such as GitHub, Jira, and Slack. It also features self-healing tests, natural-language debugging, and visual dashboards that reduce developer frustration and boost release confidence.

Jouini emphasised the importance of bold execution over conservative equity strategy:

“Too many African founders hesitate to dilute. We believe it’s better to own a small piece of a unicorn than 100% of a limited business.”

Currently available for web applications, Thunder Code plans to extend support to mobile, desktop, and API-based systems later this year. The platform is being piloted across teams in the U.S., Canada, France, and Tunisia.
