Truckrtech, a Ghanaian online marketplace enabling listing and booking of third-party trucks, has emerged winner of TechCircle’s Pitch2Win Competition 2019 at the grand finale held today at Impact Hub Ikoyi.

Truckrtech gives real-time visibility, cargo-in-transit insurance and proper communication channels to shippers and drivers and was birthed in 2018 by Caryl Joshua Akonor. The startup will receive N1 million equity free for the win.

“We did our pilot between January and April, and started full operations in May 2019. Between May and June, we’ve done $12,000 in revenue. We can look to 15% month on month revenue increase with this funding from Pitch2Win,”  Akonor, said.

The runners-up were Asusu, a SaaS startup digitising the financial activities of low income and daily earners, and Prodigy, a school management software based in Nigeria.

Truckrtech beat 9 other startups and was adjudged the winner by a panel of judges made up of Dr. Ola Brown (FlyingDoctors and Greentree Capital Investments), Dr Femi Kuti (Reliance HMO), Yuzuru Honda (Freakout Holdings), Babara Iyayi, (Lateral Capital/Element Inc.) and Hiro Mashita (M&S Partners).received 1 million naira equity free.

Pitch2win is a pitch competition powered by TechCircle in partnership with FreakOut Holdings. It is a one-day pitch competition for startups ready to scale and innovative teams ready to build their ideas. The competition will support the Nigerian Tech Ecosystem with a grant to move young and promising startup founders to the next phase.
