Nigeria’s Carrot.ng and 5 other African startups will be honoured at the World Summit Award at the WSA Global Congress in Cascais, Portugal (March 11-13, 2019). The other five include M-Shule (Kenya), Kuza One (Kenya), Sokowatch (Kenya) and Afrocomix (Ghana).

The five African startups will be among 40 other companies from around the world that will be honoured at the World Summit Awards.

The startups from Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana who are the WSA 2018 African winners will present their innovations and receive their awards

The five African startups include:

M-Shule (Kenya): The first adaptive, mobile learning platform in Africa to connect primary school students with personalized education through SMS.

Kuza One (Kenya): A mobile first micro-learning platform offering youth, women & micro-entrepreneurs from informal communities opportunities to learn, connect & grow on their own terms and at their own convenience.

Sokowatch (Kenya): A platform that enables informal retailers to order products at any time via SMS or mobile app, and receives free same-day delivery to their store.

Carrot.ng (Nigeria): One-stop estate planning solution for individuals to securely create, update and schedule execution of their Wills and or other testamentary instruments in real time, anytime, anywhere on their digital devices.

Afrocomix (Ghana): A content hub for all Afrocentric creative work made by Africans on the continent to provide a one-stop shop for people all over the world who love African content while focusing on monetization, social integration and fixing the issue of fragmentation among the African creative industry.

The WSA Global Congress is an international conference and workshop where 40 international WSA winners will be awarded and discussions held in an interactive process of how ICTs and digital innovation can have a positive impact on society and present global Best-Practice examples.

The final 40 winners were chosen by the WSA Grand Jury consisting of a diverse team of 16 international high-level experts who met in a 3-day meeting in Ghana.
